Wow pvp how much spell penetration

Resistances cause your spells to do less damage and have a chance to fully resist a spell like Hex or Thunderstorm knockback. Spell pen would allow your spells to do their full potential on the target except for resil of course. You can get the Ruthless piece that gives spell pen and that negates Mage Armor's extra 45 resistance.

The only thing past that is an enhance shaman's Seasoned Winds, but I doubt you will ever have to worry about that. Wind Shear, Purge, and Hex are all Nature spells that you don't ever want resisted. Post by soccergenius I'm fairly certain that I've had Wind Shear resisted before. I seem to be missing something if Mage armor just gives 45 all resistances why raise the cap to ?

And didn't they change the mechanic on Resistance to act has a reduce dmg instead of a chance to actually resist that sort of dmg? I'm sticking atm with just the necklace for the Spell Pen and I'm not noticing any resists Oo.

There was a test on Druid forum relating to that and the mechanic was changed to reduce dmg from the chance to resist, Mirkat the Feral druid contributor did a test without spell pen and was concluded that the mechanic was indeed changed.

For example, a level 70 player with 30 spell penetration casts a fire spell at another level 70 player buffed with 40 fire resistance. The spell resist check will be done as if the target only had 10 fire resistance.

A level 70 player with spell penetration casting at the same target will have his fire spell's resist check done as if the target had zero fire resistance not For additional resistance due to level difference, spell penetration has no effect.

In this equation, Lt is the target's level and Lc is the caster's level. For more details on this equation, see the resistance article. For example, A level 70 player casts a fire spell at a level 73 raid boss with no innate resistance.

The level difference is 3, so the raid boss has effectively 15 resistance to all schools against the level 70 caster. No matter how much spell penetration the caster has, his spell's resist check will always be done as if the target had 15 resistance. Talents such as the mage's Elemental Precision , Arcane Focus , the priest's Shadow Focus , and the warlock's Suppression do not affect spell penetration. Those talents affect spell hit rating.

Especially in PvP, it is difficult to find a well-balanced amount of spell penetration. Against targets with no resistance, it has no effect and as such is wasted. However, against targets with resistances, spell penetration is a powerful and, in terms of item values , cheap stat. Ideally, a caster should have exactly as much spell penetration as necessary to lower the target's resistance to zero.

Lastly, know that I do plan to have a new PvP guide up soon. I hate mages with a passion in pvp, especially frost and since ive got ive yet to have someone resist a trap or a druid not get scare beasted unless he shifts out or has some ability to be immune.

Reforge some of your existing hit into crit. Thank you very much. I am a marksmanship hunter. I filled my remaining blue socket with a purple gem to add 20 agility and bring my Hit Cap to a perfect 5.

I was wondering if adding spell pen could possibly have any positive effects on stats and performance of the hunters pet? You want minimum in PvP. A little more for mages would be nice but you rape them so hard anyway who cares.

I belive them! I belive myself! Thank you for this guide!! I never had anything that was very sure though…not until I saw this.
